Bio
Ronald Or is a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and a PhD student in the Department of Sociology at the University of Maryland. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychological Sciences with a minor in Sociology from Purdue University. His research interests lie at the intersection of social psychology, gender inequality, and status dynamics. Ronald examines how forms of social inequality are constructed and maintained through interactions within close relationships, families, and organizations, and how these social units reciprocally shape status hierarchies and power dynamics. He is also interested in identifying the conditions that motivate individuals to support those in marginalized positions.
