PubMed Central Publication Management

The NIH has recently changed its rules about posting any NIH-supported research publications to a government repository. The new rules require that the deposit be made as soon as the publication is accepted for publication.

Because of this new obligation, our Faculty Associates should think carefully about any research articles they produce that fit within the MPRC / NICHD-PDB mission. For any such articles the scholar should make an assessment of the journal to see if it will permit the article to be put into a government repository without any embargo. One part of this question can be addressed by identifying open source journals, or identifying funding sources that will pay whatever fees might be necessary for making an article available immediately.

Once this fundamental question is resolved the process of depositing the article in PubMed Central is very straightforward. MPRC is prepared to assist anyone who needs help navigating the PubMed Central deposit process. Listed below are several resources to help our Associates
