Natasha Cabrera Co-Authors Book on the Role of Fathers
Cabrera co-authored a new book highlighting the importance of fathers’ emotional and financial contributions to child development.
Faculty Associate Natasha Cabrera has co-authored a new book examining the role of fathers in child development. The book, How Fathers Help Their Children Develop: Money and Love, written with Ronald B. Mincy, explores how both financial support and emotional engagement contribute to children’s well-being. Cabrera’s research emphasizes that fathers play a distinct and essential role in areas such as language development, social skills and behavioral outcomes. Drawing on decades of research, the book challenges the idea that a father’s primary responsibility is financial provision alone. Her work highlights the need for policies and research that better reflect the full scope of fathers’ contributions to family life.
