Faculty Associate Jennifer Roberts receives ISRCA award
Jennifer Roberts is among UMD faculty recognized for innovative research, including a project on environmental injustice in Buffalo.
Eleven faculty members from UMD have been selected for the 2026 Independent Scholarship, Research and Creativity Awards (ISRCA), which support original research across disciplines. Among them is Jennifer Roberts, an MPRC faculty associate, whose work examines environmental injustice and its lasting impacts on communities. Her forthcoming book, "Buffalo's Emerald Necklace: How Environmental Racism Devastated a Community and Destroyed an Olmsted Treasure," explores how the construction of the Kensington Expressway disrupted a historic Black community and destroyed Buffalo’s Humboldt Parkway. The ISRCA program, established in 2019, provides up to $10,000 in funding to support faculty research and creative projects.
